LISTND

This policy explains what LISTND collects, how it is used, and who can see it. It is written to be read, not skimmed past, so the most important part is first.
LISTND stores your data on a secure database. Other users can only ever see the things listed as visible below. Everything else is yours alone.

Your podcast subscriptions and your listening history are never shown to anyone else and never appear in any activity feed. They are stored so the app works across your devices, but they are private to your account.
"Private" here means private from other users. Your data is stored on our database, so we as the operator can access it to run and support the app. We do not sell it and we do not share it except as described below.
LISTND is operated by Sonya William, as a sole proprietorship based in Ontario, Canada. Sonya William is the data controller responsible for your information.

Account information. You create an account using Sign in with Apple, Google, or an email magic link. Depending on the method, we receive and store your email address. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we receive Apple's private relay address rather than your real one, which is fine.
Profile information. Your username, and optionally a display name, a short bio, and an avatar image. This information is part of your public profile.
Your activity in the app. Podcasts you subscribe to, your listening progress on episodes, episodes you download, podcasts and episodes you like, lists you create, people and lists you follow, and recommendations you send or receive.
Usage signals. We record basic counts of which Discover sections you see and tap. This is first-party data used only to tune how the Discover page ranks content. It is automatically deleted after 30 days and is deleted when you delete your account.
Push notification data. If you enable notifications, we store a device token so we can send them, along with your notification preferences and a log of notifications sent.
We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting services. There are no Firebase, Mixpanel, Sentry, or similar tools in the app.
We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. Because LISTND does no cross-app tracking, it does not use Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework and will never show you the "Ask App Not to Track" prompt. There is nothing to track.
We do not sell your personal information.
We use your information to run the app: to sign you in, sync your subscriptions and progress across your devices, build your personalized feeds, deliver recommendations and notifications you have opted into, and operate the social features you choose to use.
LISTND relies on a small number of outside services to function. These are service providers, not advertisers or data buyers.
Supabase provides our database, authentication, and hosting. Your account data is stored here.
Apple iTunes Search API is used to search and discover podcasts. When you search, your device contacts Apple's service directly, which means Apple receives your IP address as part of that request.
Podcast feeds (RSS). To show episode details, your device fetches podcast feeds directly from the hosts that publish them. Those hosts receive your IP address as part of that request, as they would for any podcast app.
Podcast Index is used as a backup search source. These requests are routed through our own server, so Podcast Index does not receive your IP address directly.
Beyond these, we share data only if required by law.
Your data is stored and processed on Supabase infrastructure located in the United States (US East, Ohio). If you are located in Canada, the European Union, the United Kingdom, or elsewhere outside the United States, your data is transferred to and stored in the United States and may be subject to US law. Where required, these transfers rely on standard contractual clauses or an equivalent legal transfer mechanism.
We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. Discover usage signals are deleted automatically after 30 days. When you delete your account, your data is removed as described below.
You can permanently delete your account from within the app. When you do, we delete your data across our systems, including your profile, subscriptions, listening progress, downloads, likes, lists, follows, recommendations, device tokens, notification settings, and usage signals, along with your sign-in record. This is a hard deletion, not a deactivation, and once it is done you cannot sign back in with the same account.
There is one exception. If you previously submitted a safety report about another user, that report is kept for trust-and-safety reasons, but it is anonymized so it is no longer linked to your identity.
Depending on where you live, you have rights over your personal data, including the right to access it, correct it, and delete it. You can edit your profile and delete your account directly in the app. For any other request, contact us at listnd.app@gmail.com and we will respond.
These rights are supported under laws including Canada's PIPEDA, the EU and UK GDPR, and California's CCPA.
LISTND is not directed to children and is not intended for anyone under 13, or under the higher minimum age required in your country (for example, 16 in parts of the European Union). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children below these ages. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top and, for significant changes, provide notice in the app. Continued use of LISTND after a change means you accept the updated policy.
